History and Origins:

The creation of the Albino Penis Envy strain was documented by Workman on the Shroomery website. In the original post, titled “PF Albino and Penis Envy Cross Breeding,” Workman outlined an ongoing experiment involving the crossbreeding of the PF Albino strain with Penis Envy. The initial generation (F1) was not expected to display any albino traits or the characteristic Penis-shaped caps. The real focus was on the F2 generation, where recessive traits were anticipated to emerge. Interestingly, the F1 culture demonstrated hybrid vigor, characterized by aggressive mycelium growth and rapid mushroom development.

Workman described the method used to achieve this cross. He began by germinating a single PF Albino spore on malt agar, resulting in a monokaryotic culture. Unlike dikaryotic cultures, which have visible clamp connections under magnification, this culture lacked such features. To avoid the time-consuming process of isolating single spores and performing controlled crosses, Workman utilized a mechanism where monokaryotic mycelium can transform into dikaryotic mycelium through nuclear migration. This process occurs not only at the point of mycelial contact but throughout the entire mycelial network.

To carry out the experiment, Workman introduced the monospore PF Albino culture into a jar of sterile grain (grass seed in this case) and allowed it to almost fully colonize. Once the mycelium had nearly covered every grain, he added a fresh solution of cubensis spores from either Penis Envy or Costa Rican strains and shook the jar to mix. The objective was to prevent the newly introduced cubensis spores from colonizing uncolonized substrate unless they combined with the PF Albino

Genus: Psilocybe
Species: Cubensis
Variety: Albino PEnis Envy
Spores: Albino/translucent coloration, low spore density, don’t drop in traditional manor.Habitat: Bovine, Equine Dung and Enriched Soils
Climate: Subtropical
Cap: 20+ mm in diameter, campanulate, white often with bluish tones bruising bluish green. The caps do not develop normally and suffer diminished spore production.
Stem: 60-100 mm in length, contorted often bulbous near the middle, pure white. Flesh bruising bluish where injured. No persistent annulus but an annular zone can often be distinguished on the stem’s surface.

Are Albino Penis Envy spores legal to buy?

In the UK any psilocybe cubensis spores are legal to buy but cultivation is not. The legality of buying Psilocybe Cubensis spores may vary depending on your location and local laws. In some countries, it is legal to purchase spores for research purposes, but illegal to cultivate them. In other places, it may be illegal to possess or purchase spores altogether.

How do I store my spores?

Spores should be stored in a cool, dark and dry environment.

How long can I keep my swab before using?

You should use your swab as soon as possible. If stored correctly the spores should be fine for 6 months. The longer you leave the swab the more chance of contamination being present when viewing under the microscope.
