Mycotown has been a prominent magic mushroom spore supplier and creator of gourmet and medicinal mushrooms in the UK since 2019. An interest in mushrooms started early in life. As a child I used to forage for Boletus, Chanterelles and Hedgehog mushrooms in the forests of Aberdeenshire with my sister and Dad. This later turned into a small business where my sister and I would go on expeditions to pick the aforementioned mushooms for restaurants and deli shops for a bit of extra cash. It was a fantastic job as you got the benefit of a walk, hunting for mushrooms and some money in your back pocket all at the same time.
Fast forward a few years and an interest in mushrooms reemerged. Not living in an area where wild mushrooms were accessible I began to experiment with cultivating gourmet and medicinal mushrooms. In addition to this I discovered the world of magic mushroom spore microscopy. Having battled with depression on and off for over two decades the research on psilicybin as a potential treatment option was and is very interesting to me. I also found it fascinating that although Psilocybin is scheduled as a class A drug, the spores that produce it are not illegal in the UK (or the vast majority of the world).
Pre 2019 the ability to buy psilocybin spores was on the sketchy side. Reddit was an option but it involved a back and forth on their messaging system. Instagram had some sellers but I found the customer service to be severely lacking and time frames for orders being shipped out could literally take weeks. From this frustration Mycotown was born! I felt I could combine customer service skills I learnt working in hospitality with a slick website and some top quality products and see how things went. Fortunately things went well! Since 2019 we have had a few ups and downs but along the way learnt a lot.
Since 2019 we have been able to partner with a laboratory in Jamaica allowing us to get access to clean psilocybin cubensis spores in a legal way. At Mycotown we strive to get your orders out as quickly as possible. This means if your order is in by 1pm it will usually go out that day. We use rigourous quality control measures and check every spore syringe before packaging. Mushrooms being mushrooms things can always go wrong (Don’t trust any vendors that promise 100% contamination free). If there is an issue and it is obviously our fault we will fix it right away.
