Maitake (Often called “Hen of the Woods”) means “dancing mushroom” in Japanese.

This Maitake (Grifola frondosa) liquid mycelium prepared using the finest quality malt and yeast extracts.

Each order contains:

– 10ml Liquid Culture Syringe with Syringe Cap
– 16g Wrapped Sterile Needle
– 70% Isopropyl Alcohol Wipe

These items are further packed in a zip lock bag to further protect from contamination

Each 10ml Liquid Culture Syringe is freshly prepared and can be stored for up to 6 months when refrigerated.

Unlike other polypores, the maitake mushroom is edible. Many people consider them quite delicious with a strong flavor. Maitake have been used for centuries in eastern medicine. They contain polysaccharides that are immune modulators and scientists are more closely analyzing their medicinal properties.

Suitable Substrate:
hardwood (poplar, oak, alder, aspen, maple, birch, ash, beech, willow, elm)

wood logs, indoor mycelium bags for cultivation in a greenhouse

Phase: Fruiting and Harvest

Humidity: 75 -85 %
Duration: 14 – 21 days
Light: 500 – 1,000 lux
Cropping cycle: 2 flushes, every 3-4 weeks.

Can be used to colonize approximately five 500ml jars of substrate or expanded into further agar or liquid cultures. Each culture has been tested for contamination. Furthermore, this mycelium is second generation and has been selected for desirable genetics, namely: growth rate, thickness of hyphae and resistance to contamination.
